My boyfriend is estatic with your board. Other products we looked at were poorly constructed. The built in paper clip is ideal.
Exactly what I was expecting, and delivered in a timely fashion.
I used this to develop boat designs in the early 90s. I lived aboard a 26 ft sailboat and space was at a premium. No way to use a T square in those tiny quarters but this worked wonderfully. I purchased the optional drafting head and found that to be a very worthwhile investment. I drafted on 11 X 17 inch tabloid size vellum using Alvin Reformograpgh inking pens. I pulled this out of the attic after sitting unused a quarter of a century, cleaned it up and started using it again to do design some airbrush masks that requires a bit of precision. Work not really suitable for my CAD work station. Of note; compared to reviving other legacy Drafting systems, I did not need to find a legacy Operating System computer or hunt down registration and license numbers. I did not have to connect to a cloud. I actually own this drafting system. This works fine sitting cross legged in bed with this in my lap. If I use it more often I will find a beanbag laptop board for it. This should not be compared to other drawing boards that label themselves as portable because those are larger and have fragile exposed wires and lack a carrying case to protect it all. These are available elsewhere without the corrugated carry box but not having the carry box defeats the whole purpose of the portable design. You want the box! It holds a tablet of paper along with drafting instruments and the drafting head. If there was a metric version of the drafting head, I would gladly purchase it as most of the maker community, even in the US use metric.
This is the best designed portable drawing board I have ever seen. I especially like the size, which is not too small, but allows for paper that is more than 8.5x11. Other excellent features are the rulers on three sides, the clamp for holding down the paper, the variable-height feet and the parallel rule that does not run on a wire like all the Maylines. I have been an artist/graphic artist for many decades, and if I were to have designed a portable drawing board, I would have designed this one. The lightweight carrying case is also excellent.
I specifically went shopping for a 'student' type drafting set for use on the road & at worksites where changes & details had to be added to work prints on the spot. I looked at about 6 or 8 others, & this one won hands down. It's a very usable porta-board, no matter what your age or profession. It's slickly designed, easy to clean, surprisingly solid. Only minor issues have been a couple seam separations & feet falling off, both fixed easily with superglue. The included case will hold a supply of paper, some basic geo-tools & pens & pencils. For extended use, I suggest adding an 1/8" piece hardboard to the back with adjustable legs will make all the difference. It'll add a little needed weight for stability, & remove the flex from the plastic drawing face.
