As advertised, it is a "plastic" lead holder. It has an unreliable feel to it. What does this mean? Well, this lead holder lacks any type of grip. This is a problem because when I try to press down on the button to release the graphite I end up having to hold on to the lead holder for dear life to prevent it from flying out of my hand because I have to apply so much pressure on the button in order for the graphite to drop. If you are interested in a lead holder and someone gave this to you for free then you got a good deal, however I cannot recommend spending money on this. If you want to spend any amount of money on a lead holder you might as well try to find something that is built well (i.e. Staedtler, and even the Alvin Pro-matic MC5 is amazing). Alvin has designed some great products (Pro-matic MC5, Draft/Matic), however this "Scott B/2 Lead Holder" is not one of Alvin's best.
This lead holder is wonderful! Solid plastic construction with a good grip on the lead. Easy to hold.
Exactly what I needed to hold my 2mm colored leads. Easy access to the leads and a decent price.
I’m happy with the purchase and I feel the price was excellent for it. It’s a shame that it’s being discontinued

I knew that Alvin products will be getting harder to find so I wanted to get one before they disappear.. The pencil is a little lighter than I expected, but the clutch mechanism works fine and the pencil is comforatble in the hand.. I will use it often.
