About Our Drafting Kits
When Alvin went out of business, their drafting kits went with them. When Alvin was eventually acquired, those kits never came back. For students, professors, and professionals who had relied on them for years, finding a comparable ready-to-go kit suddenly got very difficult.
So we built our own.
Drafting Equipment Warehouse (DEW) has been supplying drafting tools since 1994. We know what belongs in a kit for an architecture student versus an engineering student versus an HVAC technician; because we have an industrial designer, a structural steel professional, and a working artist on our team. We didn’t just throw tools in a box. We thought about each discipline, each program, and each skill level, and we built kits that actually make sense for the work.
Almost every kit we sell is a DEW Exclusive, assembled here, available nowhere else.
Built for Schools, Professors, and Training Programs
We work directly with schools, community colleges, universities, trade programs, and union training facilities across the country. If you’re an instructor or program coordinator, here’s how it works:
Send us your supply list and we’ll build a kit around it. We can sell directly to your school, department, or bookstore in bulk — or we can create a dedicated kit page for your program so your students can order individually and have their kit shipped directly to them. Many professors simply share a direct link with their class at the start of the semester.
We also sell directly to trade unions and apprenticeship programs that need reliable, discipline-specific kits for their members.
