Yes, masking tape will work but the adhesive becomes gummy.

I'm a retired "transit & tape" civil engineering technician but I still from time to time work at my drafting table here at home. For what I do I choose this particular brand of drafting tape for my use, mainly for reasons of economy.

Inconsistent and Poor Quality

Due to there being limited drafting tapes available I have purchased Pacific Arc tape from several suppliers (usually it is unfortunately not identified by manufacturer) several times over a period of years- always with disappointment. I've had the tape pull the sheen off the paper, other times fail to hold the paper to the vinyl board cover and too often have the parallel bar pull the tape loose leaving glue residue on the bar, board and paper. I continue to try to avoid purchasing this product.
