At Drafting Equipment Warehouse (DEW), we work hard to ship orders quickly, accurately, and as efficiently as possible. Shipping methods vary based on the size, weight, and type of product ordered.
Shipping Charges
Shipping charges are shown during checkout before payment is submitted. You will be able to review available shipping options and costs before entering payment information.
Carriers We Use
We ship by:
- FedEx
- UPS
- USPS
- Common carrier freight lines
Depending on the item, orders may ship from our own stock or directly from a manufacturer or distributor.
We do not ship C.O.D.
Some, but not all, items can ship to P.O. Boxes or Military APOs.
Processing and Delivery Times
Some manufacturers and distributors may require additional production or handling time before shipment.
Any delivery dates provided by phone, email, or on our website are estimates only. Longer transit times may occur, especially for coast-to-coast shipments.
Once your order ships, we will email tracking information so you can follow the shipment.
Small Parcel Shipping
Smaller and lighter items usually ship by UPS, FedEx, or USPS.
Estimated transit times after the order leaves the warehouse:
- UPS / FedEx: 1 to 6 business days
- USPS: 1 to 10 business days
Adult signatures are generally not required, but the final decision is made by the delivery carrier. If you want a package left without a signature, you may leave a note for the driver that includes your name and tracking number.
Freight / Dock-to-Dock Delivery
Many large or heavy items ship by truck freight instead of standard parcel service.
For residential deliveries, the freight carrier will usually call to schedule a delivery appointment, often within a 2 to 4 hour window during normal weekday business hours.
A dock-to-dock delivery means the shipment is delivered to the curb or driveway. Unless you purchased additional services, you are responsible for unloading the shipment from the truck and moving it into your home or building. You may want to have an additional person available to help.
Lift Gate Service
For an additional charge, a lift gate can be used to lower the shipment from the truck to the ground.
Lift Gate and Inside Delivery
For an additional charge, some freight shipments can be brought just inside the front entrance for lobby delivery. Stairs and installation are not included. Pricing varies.
White Glove Delivery
Assembly and installation services are available on select products only. If available, this service will be noted on the product page. Pricing varies depending on the item.
How to Receive a Freight Shipment
The following instructions apply to freight and common carrier deliveries only, not UPS or FedEx shipments.
Before signing for a freight delivery:
- Count the cartons and confirm the quantity matches the Bill of Lading.
- Inspect the cartons for dents, tears, crushed corners, wetness, or other visible damage.
- If damage is suspected, open the cartons while the driver is present and inspect the merchandise.
If the shipment appears to be in good condition, sign the Bill of Lading.
If there is visible damage, or if the cartons appear compromised and you cannot inspect the contents, note the damage on the Bill of Lading and write "Subject to Inspection" before signing.
If the shipment is badly damaged, you may refuse it. In that case, mark the Bill of Lading "Refused Due to Damage."
Please keep all outer cartons for inspection if damage is found.
Damaged Shipments
If your shipment arrives damaged:
- Keep the outer carton for inspection
- Take photos of the damage
- Email the photos to sales@draftingsuppliesdew.com
- Contact DEW right away if you are unsure whether to accept the shipment
If you receive a defective product, please contact us so we can assist with a replacement.
Claims for freight-damaged merchandise must be reported within 5 days of customer receipt.
No freight damage claims can be honored after 5 days.
