Description
The Alvin / Pacific Arc PXB Portable Parallel Straightedge Board is a portable drafting board designed for students, hobbyists, architects, engineers, and technical drawing applications. Combining a durable melamine drawing surface with an integrated parallel straightedge system, the PXB provides an affordable and space-saving drafting setup for classrooms, studios, offices, and home workspaces.
The under-mounted parallel straightedge system allows smooth horizontal movement for drafting and layout work. Foldaway legs and a built-in carrying handle make the board easy to transport and store between projects or classes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the parallel bar sometimes need adjustment?
The PXB uses an under-mounted wire system that requires initial tuning. There are three sets of adjustment bolts — rear, side, and front — that need to be set before use. See the video tab on this page that walks through the process. Once tuned, the system stays reliable. This is normal for under-mounted parallel bar systems and typically takes about 10 minutes to dial in.
Does this board ship assembled?
Yes. The PXB drafting board arrives fully assembled and ready to use out of the box.
What size board do I need for my drafting class?
Most high school drafting courses use 18" x 24" or 20" x 26" boards. For college and university architecture or engineering programs, we most commonly sell the 24" x 36" size because it works well for larger drawing assignments and standard architectural sheet sizes. Always check your course supply list if one was provided.
Can I add a vinyl board cover later, or does it have to be installed at the time of purchase?
The vinyl board cover must be installed at the time of purchase. We install it before shipping and it cannot be easily added after the drafting board arrives.
How does this compare to the DEW Exclusive boards with the Alvin Paral-Liner?
The PXB uses an under-mounted wire parallel bar system, which is a good entry-level solution for students and hobbyists. The DEW Exclusive boards use a professional top-mounted Paral-Liner bar with nylon rollers — the same style system commonly used on full drafting tables. If you need higher precision for professional drafting work, the DEW Exclusive boards are worth the upgrade.
