Built and assembled in-house by Drafting Equipment Warehouse, this portable drafting board ships ready to use — Alvin Paral-Liner Professional Parallel Bar already installed. Add a vinyl drawing board cover and we will have that installed before it leaves our shop.

Note: Due to its laminar construction, this straightedge may bow in the center. To correct this, gently lift the left and right ends while pressing down slightly on the center to counteract the bowing effect. See assembly instructions page 3.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this drafting board fit on my desk?
The 24" x 36" board works well on most standard desks. The 31" x 42" board is larger and is usually better suited for a dedicated drafting workspace or large table.
What paper sizes does each drafting board accommodate?
The 24" x 36" board accommodates paper sizes up to approximately 22" x 34". The 31" x 42" board accommodates paper sizes up to approximately 24" x 36".
Why buy a top-mounted parallel straightedge?
A top-mounted parallel straightedge uses wires that run along the top and sides of the drafting surface rather than underneath it. Most users find top-mounted bars smoother, easier to use, and easier to adjust than under-mounted systems. They also tend to stay parallel more consistently over time.
What is the Vinyl Drafting Board Cover and do I need it?
Vyco/Borco was a professional-grade reversible vinyl drafting surface used for decades on drafting boards, but the original Vyco/Borco brand has been discontinued. Modern vinyl drawing board covers provide similar protection and a slightly cushioned drawing surface preferred by many drafters. We install the grey side facing up before shipping. While optional, a board cover is highly recommended for frequent drafting use because it helps protect the drawing surface, improves pencil performance and reduces glare.
How is this different from drafting boards commonly sold on Amazon?
We build these boards in-house. This board uses a professional top-mounted parallel bar system with the wire mechanism mounted on the top and sides of the board rather than underneath it. Under-mounted systems commonly found on inexpensive drafting boards can feel imprecise and harder to operate.
Can replacement parts be ordered?
Yes. Replacement parts for the Alvin Paral-Liner straightedge system, including hardware kits and rewiring kits, are available separately on our website.
