    Are the bushings made of metal that connect to the metal rod (instead of plastic), and, does this contain a universal adapter? (Ethan L.)
    The only plastic parts on this compass are the areas that are blue. All other parts are metal. And yes, this does come with a universal adapter and beam as well.

    This is a great compass set, worthy of the Staedtler brand. The set is virtually all metal construction and the metal alloy used for the construction is a decent one with nice flat and well-finished surfaces. In addition to the compass, there is an extension arm and a universal pen adapter. Of course there is also the rather compulsory spare lead and needle included in the set too. Admittedly, it is not an inexpensive $10 product, but I think that the quality you get is worth the cost. All in all, a very good product.
