Professional Cutting Mats

I've been looking for a mat that fit on the new countertop in my sewing room. I wanted a mat that was 18 x 36 but could not find one in any quilting store or any online quilting business. I found the one I purchased made by your company. It is higher quality than the other ones I have purchased at quilting supply businesses. I will be replacing my older mats with mats from your company. I will definitely be a return customer!

I read so many reviews on several brands of sewing mats that had great reviews but also had many negative reviews. These were on Amazon and other sites. Many cited poor packaging, would not lay flat, strong smell, that would not go away, and cut lines on the mat that do not heal. I knew my wife would not like that. Then while researching I found that Alvin was highly rated and this web site was much less expensive than even Amazon. As for the shipping it was nicely rolled in a sturdy box. I unrolled it, laying it flat on our porch floor and after a day or so in the sun it was flat and the smell was gone. My wife hasn’t cut on it yet but she loves it. I really wanted to love this mat — it’s huge, durable, and not too expensive — but the smell is unbearable. Headache inducing. The moment I opened it, my entire neighborhood started asking if a skunk had been hit nearby. It’s been sitting outside for TWO WEEKS now trying to air out, and the odor still hasn’t faded enough for me to bring it indoors. Because of that, I haven’t even been able to use it yet. It also still isn’t sitting completely flat — it curls up and relaxes depending on the temperature, like it can’t decide if it wants to live here or not. Customer service has actually been great — quick, polite, and offered to take it back with no hassle — which I appreciate. I’m giving it a little more time to see if the smell and flatness improves, but if it doesn’t, I’ll have to return it. If they could fix the chemical/skunky odor issue and it stays flat, this would otherwise be an adequate cutting mat.

I could have purchased this product from many different businesses, but DEW Drafting Supplies ANSWERED the phone with a live body that I could talk to and ask questions. The Customer service is EXCEPTIONAL. And the price was spot on! it arrived on time with minimal shipping charge.

<p>This is the second Alvin Professional cutting mat I've owned (the first ordered years ago from another retailer) and they are reliably good products and something I'd have no hesitancy in recommending.</p> <p>A quirk to be aware of however: unlike my first Alvin mat, this one had a rather overwhelming pungent smell to it when it first arrived. It took a week of being placed outside in mild weather to off-gas enough to finally be acceptably inoffensive to come indoors.</p> <p>Dew Drafting Supply certainly had the best prices on the internet and shipped the product very quickly. I have already recommended them to a friend.</p>

<p>This 18x36 Alvin Cutting Mat works perfectly for my use case! I wanted a desk pad for my computer setup, but needed something I could write on (the cloth and foam desk pads are useless for writing) I was searching online for options, and the fancy computer desk pads cost twice as much. This was the perfect size, I like the color, and now I have a durable cutting mat if I ever need to cut paper/plastic/cardboard/etc. I'm looking forward to using this for years to come!</p>

Excellent quality, service and price.

The mat has been on my cutting table for a week now. I'm really pleased with the size, and as a cutting mat it works great - have already cut out several things on it. I'm disappointed that the odor is still lingering (though not as strong as it was). I'm also disappointed that it has not entirely flattened out. Since I bought it to replace an aged cutting mat that had warped, making cutting accuracy difficult, the fact that it has not flattened completely is dismaying, particularly for the price. I hope that the situation will remedy itself soon.
